World Wide Wings LLC orders 15 Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer aircraft for new Flight Training School in San Bernardino California
After months and months of evaluation, writing proposals, flight tests and endless emails I am very proud to announce our single biggest order into the USA flight training market.
15 Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer aircraft with instrumentation configured for IFR training have been ordered for delivery to San Bernardino CA.
World Wide Wings LLC (WWW) is an USA based flight training school with facilities in Florida and California that specialize in training pilots from all over the world and in particular Indian students.
WWW train students from first-flight through to CPL, CFI and beyond, including type ratings on BOEING 737 & AIRBUS A320 which are the most widely used commercial airplanes in the Indian markets. The end result is an FAA issued Pilot’s Licence which is globally recognized and allowing operations around the world.
The management of WWW are all active airline pilots with thousands of flying hours and have already trained over 500 students worldwide. Their impressive Instructor-Student ratio of approximately 1:4 ensures that students get personalized attention and finish their training on time in a personalized manner.
World Wide Wings LLC has partnered with the San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) as their academic training partner.
Through SBVC students complete a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) / Certified Flight Instructor License (CFI) while studying for the 2 year associate’s degree in Flight Operations & Management. This program allows students to obtain their flight ratings in year 1 and then work as a flight instructor to build hours in year 2 while also completing the college program with aviation degree in year 2.
Asking WWW principal Naushad Imam…. WHY PIPISTREL?
“We have been looking for a suitable LSA ab-initio trainer for our flight schools in Florida and California for quite some time.
Finding the right airplane which provided the flexibility of conducting all training seamlessly from end- to-end on a standardized platform was the key. The age old Cessna and Piper still being widely used by most flight schools in the US did not fit our profile for a host of reasons.
Our search moved to new generation trainers like the Sports Cruiser, Tecnam, Skycatcher, Flight Design, Evektor, Pipistrel and a few others. We leased and put some of these airplanes to work in our training environment.
This provided a very good understanding of their suitability in terms of safety, performance(s), maintenance, handling, durability, serviceability and up times.
The feedback from the students was also very helpful. I would like to add here that we do have a very diverse student-body from all over the world.
NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS WITH RESPECT TO INSTRUMENTS, COCKPIT RESOURCES, PLATFORMS AND ENVIRONMENT HAS CHANGED FUNDAMENTALLY OVER THE LAST DECADE. WITH THAT IN MIND AND AFTER A THOROUGH RESEARCH WE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT “PIPISTREL” OFFERED THE BEST SOLUTION FOR OUR TRAINING MARKET AND NEEDS.
BELOW ARE SOME REASONS FOR OUR DECISION TO SELECT THE PIPISTREL ALPHA TRAINER,
The Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer was the obvious choice from very early on.
200 of the Pipistrel ALPHA Trainers were selected to fill a major training contract for the joint Indian military forces (Airforce, Navy & National Cadet Corps); their feedback on the aircraft durability was a consideration.
News that a Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer in New Caledonia had recently surpassed 4,000 hours of training in a very hostile tropical/marine environment without a single problem was also a factor.
More than 300 Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer’s have been produced and flying in 35 countries including almost 50 in the USA alone helped our decision along with the 5 following special considerations.
1) SAFETY (OUR PRIMARY CONCERN): Excellent gliding capability, Ballistic rescue system, Ability to land on short/unprepared surface in emergency
2) PERFORMANCE: Take-off and land from unprepared and soft/short field, Very good thrust: weight ratio, Excellent cross-wind landing capability, Excellent climb, cruise, endurance, range and ceiling, Good in-flight maneuvering and handling, Fuel flexibility (Avgas/Mogas), Outstanding fuel economy/optimum range
3) INSTRUMENTATION: Pipistrel provides utmost flexibility to design the instrument panel to suit our exact needs
4) STRONG AND ROBUST TRAINER: Easy maintenance and ground handling characteristics Reinforced landing gear for training, Day/Night trainer
5) PIPISTREL TRACK RECORD: State of the Art factories in Europe, Expanding footprint/support teams world wide with many customers in the fastest growing aviation markets of India and China”
Deliveries from our Italian production facility start in Late April 2018, with delivery and commissioning in San Bernardino scheduled for the 1st week of June 2018.
