Good morning from Michael Coates of X-Air Australia
We have recently made several updates to our web site which i would like to bring to your attention.
The Performance and Specifications page had some incorrect performance details on the Virus which were not picked up when the site was published… the major one being the glide ratio on the Virus which is 1:24 and not 1:18 as written.
There is a price rise from the manufacturer from the 1st January 2003 of around 5% – 6%; aircraft ordered and deposited with the 20% deposit BEFORE 31st December will be supplied at the 2002 pricing and scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2003.
The first two aircraft will be arriving in Australia by the end of February, unfortunately they will miss the Avalon Airshow held from the 11th to 16th February but we intend to showcase them around Australia shortly after their arrival, should you wish to catch up with the Sinus in March and April please drop me a line and we will add you to our calling list. One aircraft will be based at Canberra Airport and the other at Jacobs Well on the Gold Coast.
The GFA (Gliding Federation of Australia) have accepted the Pipistrel Sinus and Virus onto the register initially as Experimental VH registered aircraft, this means you can use either aircraft for private flying or training of the owners.
We will have an update late this week which will be added to the website about their review of the paperwork and certification which will allow the aircraft to be registered as club trainers and hire aircraft.
We will be away at the Pipistrel factory in the two weeks leading up to Christmas and i will return with some new movies and additional information for a newsletter update just before the new year.
Take care Michael Coates 9th December 2002
