Work began on the new Italian facility in March 2012 at the airfield of Gorizia but building slowed significantly when digging the foundations. Builders found large amounts of asbestos had been dumped at the site sometime during the 50’s and it got worse when they also found unexploded bombs from World War I and World War II including pallets of live ordinance which were buried during different battles and had been forgotten over the years. This required complete and painstakingly slow sanitization of the complete 10-acre site before any building could commence. Completed in 2016 this 10,000 m2 (≈110,000 sq. feet) facility is state-of-the-art and manufactures all LSA aircraft for world markets along with the Panthera and other special projects.
